breaking promises is what she does
it's a habit, taught by an impatient
father figure and lots of drugs

she doesn't know how to cry
cuz she's allergic to water
bourbon, beer & barbiturates

are the contouring tutorials
of her youth, her mother's
lessons, seared on her face
